Smart ring for blood sugar monitoring—Ultrahuman Ring

Founded in 2019 and headquartered in India, Ultrahuman sells wearable devices and services to help users track metabolic health. The company started with a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and launched two smart rings in July 2022 and June 2023.

It is understood that Ultrahuman’s first smart ring Ring was launched in July 2022 for $299, and the second Ring Air was launched in June 2023 for $349. It can accurately measure sleep, HRV, exercise and body temperature information, and provide insights to help improve health.

Compared with Oura Ring, Ultrahuman Ring AIR has made a lot of efforts in wearing comfort. The outer ring is made of pure titanium and coated with tungsten carbide to prevent scratches. The structure is compact, notch-free, ultra-thin, and the inner ring is smooth without bulges, ensuring unparalleled comfort throughout the day and at night.

Ultrahuman Ring AIR has a total of 4 colors: black, gray, gold and silver. There are two more sizes than Oura, No. 5 and No. 14. The thickness is 2.45-2.8mm. Due to the optimization of material selection and structural design, the weight is 2.4-3.6 grams.

In terms of charging method selection, Ultrahuman Ring AIR also uses wireless charging. To charge the ring, it needs to be placed on the base. Perhaps to reduce weight, Ultrahuman uses a relatively small battery, so the battery life is only 4-6 days.

Currently, Ultrahuman’s product portfolio includes: a smart ring called Ring Air, a continuous blood glucose monitoring wearable device called M1, a home health device called Ultrahuman home, and a preventive blood testing product called Blood Vision.

Main functions

Blood sugar monitoring: The biggest feature of Ultrahuman Ring AIR is that it can be used in conjunction with UltraHuman M1, helping users attribute blood sugar changes to multi-dimensional signs such as sleep, stress, and exercise, and obtain the most suitable diet, sleep, and exercise for themselves. This makes the ring have a differentiated advantage over other comparable products, jumping out of the scope of health/fitness tracking and giving simple signs data actual medical value.

HRV monitoring: Ultrahuman Ring AIR maximizes recovery rate through key HRV; HRV can help users understand how different internal systems react every day. Managing the HRV system is essential for improving health and performance. Quantified recovery processes can help plan training loads, avoid injuries, and control mentality under pressure.

PRC: The Ultrahuman Ring AIR phase response curve (PRC) describes the complex interaction between stimuli (such as light, food, or exercise) that correspond to changes in the body’s circadian rhythm. This is a revolutionary way to synchronize with the body’s natural rhythm.
